Frequently Asked Questions

To correctly store timber mouldings, keep them stacked horizontally indoors in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated space.

Protect them from direct sunlight, extreme temperature fluctuations, and contact with the ground.

We find that covering the top board of a stack with a tarpaulin helps stop the top piece warping.

All Eze-wood mouldings and Laminate boards come plastic wrapped with high quality recycled plastic in order to further protect them from enviromental elements.

Should the timber still be wet, as is sometimes the case with CCA treated timber, it is often necessary to place stickers between each level of a stack in order to facilitate drying and prevent the build-up of surface mould.

Ezewood as a manufacturing business does not have FSC certification, we do however buy the bulk of our timber from FSC certified forests and mills within South Africa, and PEFC certified forests and mills for imported timber.

Timber can be supplied with up-to-date certification on request.

Finger jointed timber, made by bonding smaller wood pieces into long, continuous lengths, offers superior dimensional stability, cost-effectiveness, and reduced waste compared to solid timber.

Solid timber, conversely, provides a more naturally aesthetic and unique look with varied grain patterns, but can be more prone to warping and is often more expensive.

Finger jointing is ideal for non-load bearing construction and trim due to its stability and long lengths, while solid timber is better suited for load bearing applications or where natural beauty is paramount.

PAR stands for Planed All Round, referring to timber that has been machined smooth on all four sides. This process creates a uniform, high-quality surface that is ready for use in projects requiring a flawless finish, such as furniture making, interior joinery, and visible decorative elements.

PAR timber offers precision, a smooth aesthetic, and is more aesthetically pleasing than rough-sawn timber, eliminating the need for extensive additional preparation.
